Real Ghostbusters DVD Voting, Making Of, English Captions, Game Site

Permalink Jul. 21, 2008 at 11:00 PM , Categories: Site Update, RGB, DVD, Games
I know I haven't made many updates lately, and personally I still need to catch up on all of the news post July 4th - though I did watch the Ghostbusters game demo on G4 on July 14th, so please bear with me as I play a little catch-up over the next week or two. Once I'm caught up, I can go back to working on NEW stuff for the site. Some stuff that I'm really excited about.

You know what else I'm really excited about? The Real Ghostbusters Complete Collection DVD set! Yes, it's official. I've even created a page for it here on Spook Central. More information and pre-order links are coming soon.

Time-Life, the company that is producing and releasing the set, in connection with TVShowsOnDVD.com, are having a little poll where you can vote for the artwork that will be used in the set. There are two mockups done, with a description of each one, and Time-Life wants you to help choose the one that will be fully developed into the artwork with the set. Please keep in mind these are just concepts and not exactly what the final art will look like. Rest assured that if, for example, the firehouse design is chosen, it will look like the firehouse in the series, and not like the real-life firehouse in NYC. Andy Mangels' past work shows that the box art for the sets he's worked on is always tremendously faithful to the ORIGINAL looks for THOSE series. You have to get your votes in before Friday, July 25th at 11:59 PM PST (that's 2:59 AM EST on July 26th for you folks here with me on the East Coast).

I didn't get a chance to do much in terms of updating Spook Central, but I did get a little something done. On the GB1 Multimedia page I added the English captions for the Spanish video seen on the right; and I added a link to Hulu to watch the entire movie online. On the RGB Making Of page I added the missing title portion of the video.

Stay tuned as I should have my Ghostbusters Game page up-to-date by this time next week. I have lots of great screen shots from Sierra to put up and the awesome trailer. Speaking of which... I'd like to give a quick mention that GhostbustersGame.com has been updated. If you click on the US site, you'll see a new Activision navigation menu banner at the top (they recently bought Sierra), a new list of Ghostbusters sites (finally Spook Central is on the list - along with 12 others), and a new Containment Grid game is available for your enjoyment. Although I have no issues with Sierra, it does my heart good to see the Activision logo adorn the top of the game site, and I hope it adorns the game when it's released in a few months. Activision held the license for Ghostbusters games back in the late 1980s/early 1990s, so it's nice that this new game is kept "in the family".

Got 32 traps.

They forgot the first two steps: Clear the grid , neutranize you field and then pull the lever ;)

Also I had to retake the other tests cause it forgot the scores.

In my first play right now I got 40 traps (according to the screen on My File as I accidentally clicked out of the game really quickly at the end!). I probably would have done better, but it goes WAY too fast.

I also dropped a lot of traps because I didn't realize that (1) you actually had to PULL DOWN the level, and (2) that you needed to hover the cursor over the open containment unit loading bay for a tiny bit in order for it to actually accept the trap. Oh, and I kept "throwing out" a lot of loaded traps because it was going so fast and I couldn't keep track quick enough of anything but the glowing ones.

I'm going to try it again right now and see if I can do better. For what it's worth, 40 was enough to net the banner AND wallpaper.

Got 42 on the second play. What helped are the 2X bonuses.

I think I've had enough of this game for now. On to other things.
