I heard there will atleast be some REALLY cool special features on the GB disc. Something that really shows support for the fans.

Hi AJ
Are you talking about the DVD, the Blu-Ray, or both? Hopefully the DVD won't get the short end of the stick... since I don't have a Blu-Ray player :-)

Hopefully if this release is delayed, someone could rework the artwork, it's AWFUL. For such an all time classic the artworks appears to have been produced with no consideration for design in as little time as possible. Sony should not miss an opportunity like this. Also Ghostbusters 2 finally deserves some decent extras. Sure, it wasn't a patch on the original but it was a very enjoyable and popular film in it's own right and we all know there's enough featurettes out there to make a pretty decent release. Fingers crossed - c'mon Sony!!!!

Stuart, I agree that the artwork needs work, though it IS better than the Photoshop hackjob on the 1999 DVDs. What I find most saddening is that this is supposed to be a NEW release, yet so far it looks like it'll use the artwork from a OLD release.
Sony, if you're going to put out a "new" product, give it NEW artwork. Using old art is just plain lazy. I'll forgive you for being lazy on the art ONLY if you aren't lazy on the DVD contents.

SkyCat561, I agree with you 100%. The classic logo on black has a simple elegance to it.

Who would be up for a competition to design artwork for the DVD that we would love to see? I think it would be great to see a cover produced by the fans. What d'ya think? Obviously, there would be no prize but it would be cool all the same!

A competition amongst the fans would be great, but I don't know if many people would be interested if there's no prize involved. Of course, it wouldn't do squat towards getting Sony to use better (and newer) art for the new discs - which is ultimately what I'd LOVE for them to do.

I know that there isn't much of a carrot without having a prize, however it would be great to see some decent ghostbusters DVD artwork, produced by actual fans of the franchise, and if people like some of the designs they could be printed off and used as alternative sleeves.
