Andy Mangels, the producer of The Real Ghostbusters DVD set, just sent me this link (download the 255 Mb file) to a 1 hour video of the Blu-Ray & DVD panel he participated in at Comic-Con on Thursday July 24, 2008. Obviously it's not all him and The Real Ghostbusters DVD set, but if you couldn't be there in person (sadly, that includes me), this will let you "virtually" be there to find out what was said. Sadly, there wasn't a great deal said about the set, as everything Andy said is included in the seven portions of the video listed below. Still, I have to give Andy major credit for responding to every question with information about the set.

00:37-01:03 - Andy Mangles intro.
04:10-05:40 - Intros the set. (Andy holding The Real Ghostbusters DVD card at 4:23ish, with close-up at 4:34)
13:20-14:07 - Music only tracks.
23:59-24:58 - Visual commentary.
42:20-43:20 - Listening to the fans.
45:24-46:03 - Subtitles and closed captions.
54:37-55:00 - Complete series sets.

I have taken the liberty of editing all of The Real Ghostbusters DVD set segments together, which totals just under 6 minutes. So if you have no interest in watching the hour-long video, you can watch the cut-down at any of these places:

* Flash (TinyPic): Streaming
* Flash (GoogleVideo): Streaming / Download

He made a lot of comments about RGB, he seemed to really want to talk about it. One neat thing that was said is that the commentaries will be multiple angle shots of the voice actors with a picture-in picture type situation of the episode in discussion playing at the bottom of the screen. It was a little blurry to follow, being recorded on a hand held, but I believe that he was trying to explain that some of the commentaries were done with two or more people. Oh, if they only had JMS, “Janine,” and “Egon” in a room watching ‘Janine, You’ve Changed’ that would make the $179 worth it by itself.

He also alluded to the fact that if the time life set sales well, then it COULD go retail.

That all sounds REALLY good, GhostDiva. It also sounds like this set will truly deliver on the "live video commentary" that the Ghostbusters 1999 DVD was supposed to deliver. (Yes, it was innovative for the time, but it was a real let-down in execution since Ramis/Reitman/Medjuck practically sat completely still the entire time.)

From what I heard, the commentary for "Janine, You've Changed" will feature Kath Soucie, J. Michael Straczynski, and Marsha Goodman (voice director). That may have changed, of course, so don't that that as final information. I agree that it would be better to have Maurice LaMarche instead of Ms. Goodman for that commentary.

By the way, I just updated the original post with the full list of segments in which the set was talked about, a video featuring just those segments, and two screen caps from the video.
