The Real Ghostbusters Pilot Sneak Peek
With The Real Ghostbusters: Complete Collection DVD box set set to ship in a mere 15 days, I thought this would be a great time to take a sneak peek at one of the most eagerly-anticipated items in the set: the original promo pilot. For the first time anywhere on the internet I present a dozen new images (

I can't wait to see this thing. It will literally be the first thing I watch on the set.
Thanks for all the exclusive looks, Paul. I'm glad your getting to share it with us as we try to wait patiently.

I have a feeling that for almost all of us, the pilot will be the first thing we go to watch in the set :-)

Yes, the pilot first, "The Devil to Pay" second, and all other special features third! (Well, my plan anyway.)

Does the promo pilot have its own sound track? Or is it set to the RGB version of "Ghostbusters"?

Big Demolition - I honestly don't know. All you see above is all that I know. I'm actually quite happy with that as knowing too much will ruin the joy for me of seeing it for the first time in the set. In consulting on the set I've already been exposed to a few things that won't be as "fresh" for me when I first see the set as it will be for all of you. So in this case, I'm glad that I have not seen the whole thing yet!
To get back to your original question...All I know is that whatever soundtrack the pilot had on the original videotape is what it's going to have on the DVD. Alex Upton - Glad you could stop by. I love what you've done with the TheRealGhostbusters.com domain name. I don't know if you've seen my blog post about it, but I used to have that domain name a while back. I'm glad that it's in good hands :-)

When I get the set, I'll watch the promo first, Devil in the Deep, Ghost Fight at the O.K. Corral, Egon's Dragon, Captain Steel Saves the Day, Victor the Happy Ghost, Loathe Thy Neigbor, The Copycat, Short Stuff, Follow That Hearse, The Joke's On Ray, Poultrygeist, etc

That doesn't surprise me one bit. Actually, I'm surprised it didn't go up on YouTube sooner. James Eatock and I were talking about that a few months ago when I told him that I toyed with the idea of putting a low-quality copy up on Spook Central. I told him that I wanted to wait a bit, to give TimeLife ample time to sell a huge number of sets, since the promo pilot is one of their major selling points for the set. I don't know how many copies are up there, but a search for "real ghostbusters pilot" brought up one uploaded by Bobbymobil on November 30, 2008, which can be viewed here and download here.

I didn't realise that the Real Ghostbusters promo on the bonus disc was a capture from a video recording, I thought Time-Life would’ve at least gone to the trouble of re-mastering the promo or at the very least digitally restoration it for the release of The Real Ghostbusters Complete Collection boxset, from the screen captures you took of the promo, I was under the impression that it would be crystal clear DVD quality. But aside from that the promo is watchable, it feels like watching an old VHS recording transferred from video to DVD, but the advantage being that the picture is slightly more stable on the DVD. The sound is muffled at first, but becomes clearer as it goes on; also it’s a nice opportunity listening to John Smith singing the entire Ghostbusters song throughout the promo.

Although upon closer inspection of the images on the page, it does shown signs of a VHS recording
