This also word for word from NetSolo's site:
New News as of 5-22-98: This was what Ernie Hudson had to say at his
recent chat on the MSN network; "I've been hearing rumors about a 3rd
film. I talked to Danny Aykroyd and Harold Ramis who wrote the first
two. Bill Murray and Ivan Reitman have been reluctant. Assuming there's
going to be a third one, and assuming that I'll be asked, I'd like to be
a part of it if the script is good. You don't want to be doing a movie,
just to be doing a movie." -thanks be to Steven Johnson for catching
this one in the trap.
This information was found on the Dark Horizons Web Site (normally a
good source): Ghostbusters 3: Dan Aykroyd revealed in a recent interview
that he had already met with Harold Ramis about the script and confirmed
the pair are writing it with another, younger writer (no name mentioned-
but I think it's Conan O'Brian ). Ivan Reitman will be onboard as
executive producer while Ramis will also direct it.
Rumors which I have denied and refused to put on this page may have some
truth to them, so I figured- what the $#@!, I only live once. So here
you go, from the rumor dept. Remember, nothing in this has been
confirmed or denied: Mark Hamil (Luke Skywalker fame) has been
approached to play the mayor of New York City. Since the famed "Lenny"
should have completed his term by now, a new mayor is very plausible.
Though I'm really not sure how Hamil will react, I think it would be
interesting to see him in a competing movie the same year that the new
Star Wars films are released. Also: There are rumors flying around that
the Ecto-1A will receive some minor touch-ups and continue to be the
Ghostbusters main vehicle. However, the Rumor Dept. has stated that a
new Dodge Ram is being considered. (No offense to those who have either
heard or conceived this idea, but I don't like it at all- in fact, it
goes against everything we know about the GB's style)
