Welcome to "Spook Central," the most comprehensive knowledge base of Ghostbusters information available on the Internet. I started this site back in August 1996 with the goal of making the most complete Ghostbusters site ever -- one that would be a true companion to the Ghostbusters franchise. Over time, that goal is slowly being achieved. Having the most comprehensive site on the Internet has it's perks (helping people learn more about Ghostbusters, meeting new people) and it's drawbacks (having material I worked hard to get digitalized taken from this site without credit to me for my hard work or against my wishes). It is because of these drawbacks that I have many times considered taking this site down. However, I enjoy providing a knowledge base for movie buffs and researchers alike, not to mention that this site is a labor of love for me. I have over 1,000 files on this site (and that amount is constantly growing), almost all of which I am responsible for digitalizing and getting onto the Internet. While I DON'T own the copyright for the bulk of these files, I *DO* own the copyright for some of them (which includes the HTML and design of this site, anything labelled as © Paul Rudoff, plus some site graphics -- see "copyright" page for more details). Considering all the hard work I've done to get these 1,000+ files digitalized and online, I'd like to keep a small portion of it (25%) EXCLUSIVE to this site -- even if I don't own the copyright for some of that 25%. Throughout this site, you will see yellow notations mentioning what on that page I'd like to keep exclusive. Seeing as how that leaves 75% of the stuff freely available for anyone to take, I think I'm being quite fair, and I sincerly hope you will respect my wishes to keep the EXCLUSIVE files solely on this site. If you wish to take any of the freely available 75%, all I ask is that on your page you give me credit -- for my hard work, a link to Spook Central, and that you download the file to YOUR server -- DON'T link directly to the files on MY server (click on the WebGuard image link on the left if you want to know why I ask this last thing). Believe it or not, there are some misguided individuals who don't get the point of why I'm telling you this. Even more unbelievable, there are some people who are inconsiderate, disrespectful jerks who don't care about my feelings and have absolutely no respect for me. I've gotten a few E-Mails over the years from these two groups of people. I don't appreciate these letters, which is why I'm letting you read two of them here (click on the two links in this paragraph). The first group can be educated and enlightened ... there is no hope for the second group (as they care about no one but themselves). Many of the other Ghostbusters webmasters feel the exact same way as I do, eventhough I'm one of the few who actually expresses his feelings on his site. We have started a forum to report thievery and violations. You can access it by clicking on the "Respect The Net" image link on the left). Please don't think that all the E-Mail I receive is negative, because it isn't. Most of the E-Mail I receive is quite positive, as Spook Central has *many* supporters. In closing, I like to think of this site as a multi-sectioned, vastly researched, interactive, multimedia-enhanced digital research paper -- complete with a "bibliography" (the sources section on the credits page). I just wanted to take this opportunity to warn everyone about a new evil that is called Divx. If you enjoy home theater, DIVX should be avoided like the plague. As consumers, DIVX along with Circuit City have made it a point to insult our intelligence. Please don't be fooled into buying a DIVX product.
